GSMA 2009 : Tegra mobile chips and Android

GSMA 2009 : Tegra mobile chips and Android technology is now advancing in it’s fullness, the main aim is to work the like a minicomputer, Nvidia has announce in the Mobile World Congress @ Barcelona that it is working with to build support for Linux applications on smartphones with its which was formally announced last June 2008.

Nvidia said that Tegra chips would bring advanced graphics capabilities to smartphones while drawing less power.  brought the technology at Barcelona and shows an -based phone with a Tegra chip at the GSMA Mobile World Congress.

Tegra-based phones will combine advanced graphics, better battery life and always-on Internet access, Nvidia said in a press release. Smartphone makers can now use the Android platform to build Web 2.0 and Internet-based applications for Tegra-based smartphones, the company said.

Tegra chips put an Arm-based processor core, a GeForce graphics core and other components on a single chip. The product lineup includes the Tegra 600 running at 700MHz and Tegra 650 running at 800MHz. It also includes Tegra APX 2500 and APX 2600.

The systems-on-chips will start shipping in mid-2009 for handheld devices like smartphones and mobile Internet devices. Nvidia couldn’t immediately name companies that may ship smartphones with the chips. However, an analyst last week speculated that Microsoft would launch a smartphone with Tegra’s APX 2600 chip at MWC.

Beyond open-source support, Tegra chips also support Windows-based applications. At last year’s MWC, Nvidia announced Tegra would support Windows Mobile and enable 3D user interfaces and high-definition video on smartphones.

A $99 Tegra-based MID is expected to be announced by Nvidia at MWC. The MID includes full high-definition 1080p video playback and full Wi-Fi and 3G mobile broadband connectivity capabilities. { Source : pcworld.com }

The e-Loam F7 Specifications

image

A cheap UMPC is here. Perhaps the folks at can answer your strained prayers. Enter the F7, a VIA C7-based handheld with a 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 8GB (or 80GB) hard drive, WiFi, and… not much else. The teensy device boots XP, has Bluetooth, a 0.3 megapixel webcam, and features a resistive 7-inch (cool stylus included). There’s not much more info on this guy right now, but based on the pictures, it appears to have stereo speakers, and Pocketables speculates there may be an optical mouse somewhere in this mix. Regardless, we spent this whole post trying to figure out how loam — a fertile soil of clay and sand containing humus — fits into the picture.

is also heating up with their new OS thru Access , the company that licensed the OS 5 source code — have just released ALP, and have published some PDFs of the OS to browse through.

It all looks endearingly Palmy, with thoughtful marination in the new OS features that have come into vogue since Palm left the OS market, including smooth transitions, animation, higher res displays and the ubiquitous accelerometer support. As someone who once fondly owned a Palm m130,

today announced the "Aura", a peculiar high-end that is trumpeted as a piece of precision engineering. At its center is a circular LCD screen around which the top swings open on a "Swiss-made main bearing". Flip the over and a small window shows the gears turning.

Even though it’s clearly being marketed as a luxury item, the Aura still has what is fair to consider as basic smartphone features:

there’s no web browser.

A nice phone but I don’t think it will suit for business purpose. It is good for Kids :) , And I may say it is unique.
