Inside AdSense: Coming soon: Make ad changes without replacing code

There is a new feature being rolled by AdSense. And Darren Rowse have already tested it. More information from Adsense Site. Inside AdSense: Coming soon: Make ad changes without replacing code

I like the new feature since you can edit and experiment right from your Control Panel.

Tip in using bookmark feature of Firefox

I have discover a new ways to increase my efficiency in browsing sites which I frequently visited. This could only be used if you are using firefox as your browser.

I am referring to the use of Ctrl D ( Making a bookmark ). By Pressing Ctrl D it will bookmark the websites you like. Just follow the following steps:

  1. Go to your favorite Site
  2. Press Ctrl D
  3. Then Press Bookmark at Menu bar and look for the Website you have bookmark.
  4. Right click then select ” properties “
  5. then at the keyword put 2 or 3 letter word that you easily remember then presto.
  6. When ever you want to visit the site just enter the 3 letter word that you have input and you can immediately go to the site.

Nice tip huh.. Thanks to Amit .

Introduction

If you haven’t heard about , then you must be living under the rocks. or web log is a website where entries are written in chronological order and visitors may leave a comment for a particular post. vary from different niche. There are photo , online diaries, adult , entertainment, sports and so on. Sky is the limit of what you may think of to blog. The fun of blogging is that you can make anything bloggable and be unique. People blog for therapeutic reasons, some for rants, some just for fun and others for money.

So let’s have a typical idea of how much, really does a blog income produce.

This guy is a little disappointed receiving his pay check from . 

My Personal Story

Meet the Master

As may you all know, I don’t have talent to write nor did I know how to earn money online. I learned about email during my second year in college and my classmates thought I was joking. I got my computer on my 4th year of college. And afford to buy my own through online money making while still struggling to pass that software engineering subject. Arrrrrgh!!!.

As I got into the company I’m working now, I met people that are uber in this field of money making. They come across as arrogant because they’re always talking about money. But for me, they are good hearted people that wanted to share their knowledge and talk about their experience.

I made friends with retzwerx, if you don’t know him, ask a fellow blogger, he won the Philippine Blog Awards for an entertainment blog focusing on Big Brother. Well, he got excited and showed me a peek of his income.

Sounds good? It is. It’s dated June 14, 2007. Yep it’s not even end of the month yet and he earned that much.

As we got closer, the more I know how to . He is just soooo good on the subject that it comes natural. His enthusiasm is very contagious and I’m always excited to hear what he’s going to say next because what he says are gold nuggets ready to be picked up by all who noticed them.

My Own Style

One day, I came up with an idea to share what I learned with this guy and probably others to earn money online. Anyone can do this, all you have to do is follow and understand everything stated here. Ok, understand? Now sit, then rollover… lol. Just kidding.

After following his advices and picking up those gold nuggets, I was able to make money on my own, at home.

I know its crap compared to what he’s earning but I hope you get my point. By the way, that interface isn’t google. It’s xoom, I wanted to get away with what he teach and try my own way of earning money. But the principle is still the same as to what I will write here in the guide. I do hope I’m making myself clear here.

What’s the catch?

What’s the catch? There is no catch, totally nothing. All I ask is a link of my site (http://supernoobice.com) from your site and that would help.  You may also distribute this article to everyone you know. I don’t care. But please give proper credits.

Creating accounts for money making network ads

Recommended Money Makers

The following are the best ad networks and affiliate systems for start up sites in my opinion. They provide support and information and most of all, on time payments.

Google Adsense

Google Adsense is probably the most popular ad network on the internet. It pays you for every click on the ads. You have the chance to customize ad links to match your site theme. You definitely want to signup for adsense. Minimum payout is $100 and payments are made every month.

Sign Up for Google Adsense

Bidvertiser

Bidvertiser is a CPC ad that competes with Google Adsense. The only advantage so far is that it has a low pay out. Meaning, at a minimum of $10, you may receive your earnings. For cash check payments, a minimum of $50.

Sign Up for Bidvertiser

Auction Ads

Action ads allow you to post relative items from eBay on your site. User clicks and money comes rolling in. You may want to check it out. If you’re planning to have a site with selling items, you may want to try Audtion Ads and get paid by every transaction and user clicks.

Sign Up for Auction Ads

AGLOCO

AGLOCO is a toolbar for advertising. If you use the toolbar, you will be given share of your ad money. They will also pay you if you refer other people to use the toolbar. The more people you refer the more you can potentially make. AGLOCO is still in startup and unproven. But since the cost of investment is ZERO, it’s worth a try. It is also the only ad network here that doesn’t require a website.

Sign Up for AGLOCO

Exoclick

Here comes an alternative to Adsense that are more “mature” in nature. One of the distinct feature of Exoclick is that it allows mature ads for adult related websites. But that’s not the only thing that makes Exoclick an Adsense alternative….

Sign Up Exoclick

Get a and Hosting

Nothing beats a personal domain and web space, but if you’re broke you don’t want to spend money, stay with free hosing if you like. But please make it a must to get out of free hosting and brand your own website if you have the chance. The money and effort are worth it on personal website because once the blog is popular, it is YOUR site that is popular and not the free blog hosting. Besides, it would make you look professional. 

The money you invest on a domain and hosting will greatly outnumbered by the money coming in once you got your blog rolling.

There are lots of cheap hosting packages floating around. But I use www.bigskymedia.net simply because its cheap for only P50 a month. =)

Disclaimer: I don’t have any connection with bigskymedia.

Tips in selecting a domain name:

• Pick a domain name that reflects you.

• Pick a domain name that will reflect the most important subject of your blog. For example, if you are blogging about pictures of nude monkeys, you may want to buy a domain like www.nudemonkeys.com. So that it would be search engine optimized. (More on that later).

– The Blogging Machine

There are lots of blogging scripts out there but for this guide we will use wordpress. You may want to download the latest file at WordPress.org or if you have a cpanel try looking for the “Fantastico” icon and click it.

You will be directed to a page with list of all possible applications you may install on your hosting. Look for wordpress. It should be there. If not, download wordpress on the above link.

Pick a Theme

You may want to have a stylish look on your blog. Free resources such as this are elegant. Just download and install.

Tips in writing and managing you blog

Blog things that your passionate about

If you are not passionate about your topic then you might have a big problem in growing your blog. People know and can smell through you and through your post if you’re just in for the money.

Whatever happens, don’t do it for the money. Blog things that you enjoy story telling to others and the money will come later.

Blog in a consistent basis

A blog with no blog is a dead blog. Always remember, that an outdated blog is a dead blog. Decide on what frequency will make a post. Once a week, once a day, whatever, and stick with it!

Remember that you may want to keep readers from coming back. Think what will happen when they return and see post made a month ago? Of course, they won’t visit your site ever again and you lost a potential reader and maybe a customer.

Interact with readers

Blogging is building a community, kindly reply to comments in a positive manner. Meet and know other as they are also potential readers. It’s all about being active in the blogosphere.

Link out hearts

If you have friends who blog exchange link with them. If you don’t then find a friend online that blogs and exchange links.

“Blog Hopping” is a good way. Where you visit one blog to another then leave comments with your site url.

Brand Yourself

What makes your blog different from millions of blog around the world? Brand yourself, give your own opinions on topic you selected. Every point of view, rants and raves are unique for each person and also the way you communicate it.

Be a Good Writer

You don’t really have to be a good writer. What I meant by this is that you should have a good way of expressing your points across.

Monetizing Your Blog

Ok here it is!!! It is time to earn some money. You may need to sign up to at least one ad network to go on with this guide. I suggest you go with google adsense first or go with all. Its your choice. But for the meantime, I’ll be using google adsense as an example. Same logic applies to all ad networks.

1. First of all download and the wordpress login called “Adsense Deluxe” .

2. Login to you adsense account and click on the Adsense setup tab.

You may pick 3 types of adsense product. For now, click on the “Adsense for Content”.

3. Select Ad unit and then select text ads only. Then hit continue.

4. You will be directed to a page where you may customize the look of your ad. For the Format of our ad, select the 728×90 Leaderboard option on the drop down menu for now.

5. Now select the colors for border, title, text, url and background.

6. At this point you hit continue or ad more appealing effects to you ad by the added options, like having a rounded corner for the ad blocks.

7. Hit continue.

8. You are then directed to the Choose Channel page. Add a new channel and then hit continue.

Let me explain to you what channel does. Channel allows you to monitor which ads is generating money. For example, I added snoobLeaderboard for our ad. If that ad generated money, I would have the chance to know and basically analyze which ad to improve, change or discharge.

9. This is the final page. This page gives you the code that you will insert on your page. If you still want to customize and go back to the previous steps, just hit the back button.

10. Copy the code and fire up your WordPress Admin Page. I am now on the Presentation Tab of my Admin area.

11. I am using Fluid Solution Theme for this example.

On the Presentation Tab, there are lists of more tabs under it, namely, Themes, Widgets, Theme Editor. If you don’t have a Widgets tab, do not worry, you will still be able to follow along, it’s not necessary to have one. It’s a sort of added feature installed on my WordPress.

12. On the right side of the Theme Editor page, you will see a list of pages that you may edit that makes all of your blog. You may edit it and give a personal look on the page. For now, we are focused mainly on putting our Google Ad on the homepage.

13. Click on the Main Index Template. And the code should show up on the left side pane of the page.

14. Don’t be intimidated by the code. All we have to know is where to paste our google ad code. Browsing from our Homepage Template code, look for this code:

15. All you have to do is paste the code in place of the <PASTE GOOGLE CODE HERE> so it would look like this.

16. Now that you’re done, click Update File and preview your ad.

17. Now that you made your first Google ads and placed it on your homepage all that is left is to explore and experiment. Same goes for other ad networks.

Try new combinations and placements, try other Google Ad sizes. For more tips about Google Ad Placement visit Google’s Optimization tips.

Blog Promotion

Let’s summarize the things we have from this point. And make sure that everything’s laid out.

• We have our blog.

• We have a posting schedule.

• We have ads.

All that is left now is to promote our blog. Remember that traffic is important in the world of blogging and traffic means readers, visitors and money.

Write Good Content

Make it a habit to write quality content. If you write good articles, many would like to link to your site. When that happens, you increase your site’s visibility and more and more blogs will want to visit you for more quality contents.

The most important of all, if many sites link to you because of your content, you also increase the chance of being indexed on page 1 of google when users search for certain keywords relevant to your articles.

Once you have a striking content, you may want to submit them on digg You get popularity when readers “DIG” your content. Which in return generates more traffic.

Submit to Web Directories

By submitting to web directories, you help search engines to categorize your blog and makes it easier to be found. Here are some of the lists of directories you may submit your site. Remember that there are free and paid web directories, if you’re not willing to pay until your blog is earning, free web directories is the way to go. Just search, there are tons of it.

Last Few Words

There’s no quick and easy way to earn cash, whether online or offline. Why people walk away from this business unsuccessful is that they often quit too early. Try to do things differently if things don’t go according to plan, and eventually, you’ll be making your site successful.

A Helpful Tool To Check Your Blogs Stats

Yesterday I received an email from Yahoogroups regarding helpful from a Blogger.

I love helpful tools and I’ve done a weekend project to skin Xinu. I had fun!
What is Xinu (unix spelled backward)? It’s a tool to you check your blog’s (or even someone’s) PageRank, Alexa rank, backlinks, feed subscribers, technorati rank, validation/diagnostics and much more. You can also use it for your website.
Xinu has also a reporting tool to save it as PDF if you need to print (still scratchy).
Visit:
http://xinu.techhive.net
It currently works with IE7, FF2, Opera 9.x and Netscape 9. Please let me know if it’s useful to you. :)

From : AJ ( pictures also captured from AJ Site )

I may say that I am impress on that project. The only thing I cannot understand at the report is the Validation part, I got the following result

XHTML : 582 errors, Not valid

CSS : 12 errors, Not valid

RSS : 9 errors, Not valid

I am not a programmer, But will somebody help me understand this. Will it affect my page? or what.

In my overall opinion the site is very helpful it is a 1 stop page to get the desired stats. Great job for the programmer.

Thanks to Love All Books Blog

I would like to thank love all books for putting a permanent link of my post regarding Do Follow Tags on his blog ( Sitewide ).

At first I wonder how did he found out my post regarding this ” ” so what I did is to put Do Follow Tag Keyword at . Then presto I am the at the 2nd spot of SERP.

How did I made it, .

If only all my post will be on the no 2 on google searches it will drive a very high traffic to my site. But actually based on my stats it is only last week that Google searches is giving traffic to my site. Let us say 50 to 80 a day but having a not so good conversion.

So what I have to do is to post good and informative so that my visitor will not just hit the X mark at the right corner of the page and perhaps go make some blog post hopping at my site. To all my readers if you have some , question and others try to send me an email thru dexfamily [at] gmail [dot] com.

A Wonderful Review and A Big Thanks to SELAPLANA.COM

I would like to thank selaplana.com for reviewing my site in response to my review on his site. Below are some points that caught my attention as follows

I couldn’t tell when did this blog has started because RexTed decided not to display the monthly archive of this blog

Well actually I have the archive it is just folded down below the  right sidebar, A tick would reveal that I started this blog last January 2007.

However, I want to tell him that the Most Visited Posts and Related Posts showed twice on the sidebar.

Now it has been modified.

In general, the blog is satisfactory. But what got my attention is its host and which are all hosted by .com.

Actually I have been thinking to moving on my own domain but the problem , I do not know how I can manages this things since I am at Saudi Arabia. Perhaps I can do this during my vacation.

But just a question how does Amit Agarwal of India managed to get thousand of dollars thru advertiser having a blogspot.com domain.? and also Euleh who is a sucessful blogger in ? This is just a question.

In general It was a really great review and a Thousand thanks to selaplana for having this review.

This is a good signs that big company in Philippines believes that blog could do something in their advertisement. This is the first time that I have heard big companies such as SM make a contest specially for bloggers. I may not be qualified to an entry since I am out of Philippines but perhaps my family might make their story or experience and blog it here.

Official Gmail Blog launched

Now you may know the latest news about Gmail because Gmail has launched their official  Official Gmail Blog a paragraph from their website.

And now there’s this blog, where we’ll keep you up to date on latest from the Gmail team. We’ll post feature updates, productivity , and some insights into the people and the technology behind Gmail. And since Gmail works even better with Google Calendar and Docs & Spreadsheets, you’ll find posts from folks on these teams as well.

Before I could only some tips and trick from Digital Inspiration. But do Gmail blog post some tips and Tricks for Gmail Or will it be purely like a News that will just deliver the Updates from Gmail.

The only thing I have seen on their blog is that the outside links has a no follow Tag. That means that all those links in their site will not get any incoming value links from them.
