A Wonderful Review and A Big Thanks to SELAPLANA.COM

I would like to thank selaplana.com for reviewing my site in response to my review on his site. Below are some points that caught my attention as follows

I couldn’t tell when did this blog has started because RexTed decided not to display the monthly archive of this blog

Well actually I have the archive it is just folded down below the  right sidebar, A tick would reveal that I started this blog last January 2007.

However, I want to tell him that the Most Visited Posts and excel Related Posts showed twice on the sidebar.

Now it has been modified.

In general, the blog is satisfactory. But what got my attention is its host and domain which are all hosted by blogspot.com.

Actually I have been thinking to moving on my own domain but the problem , I do not know how I can manages this things since I am at Saudi Arabia. Perhaps I can do this during my vacation.

But just a question how does Amit Agarwal of India managed to get thousand of dollars thru advertiser having a blogspot.com domain.? and also Euleh who is a sucessful blogger in Philippines? This is just a question.

In general It was a really great review and a Thousand thanks to selaplana for having this review.

Converting any Computer Generated Documents into PDF

Most of the time you are being required to make PDF files output of your work. But what if you don’t have an in your computer. An option will be to print it in a printer and they will scan it in a scanner.

I may suggest that a very good tools for office or at home is the Primo PDF. This is a free software that could be downloaded here . Primo PDF converts any Computer generated documents into a PDF format file.

This tool could also be used in printing file Autocad or any other program. It will serves as your printer but the only difference is it will gives a pdf output.

I am doing this review not because they pay me to do so but as a way of thank you for helping me in doing my job well done.

Below is download.com definition of Primo PDF.

PrimoPDF is a free tool for high-quality PDF creation, comprising a user-friendly interface that enables printing to PDF from virtually any Windows application. Additionally, PrimoPDF provides the ability to optimize PDF output for screen, print, ebook, and prepress, secure PDF files with 40- or 128-bit encryption, and add document information (e.g. title, author, subject, keywords) to converted PDF files. Full support for 64-bit machines, double byte character and non-TrueType font support, enhanced support for Microsoft Windows 98, ME, NT, and Vista and improved PDF output also now available. Please note that this download is for 32-bit machines only. A 64-bit installer is available at the developer’s Web site.

Version 3.1 introduces the ability to merge and append PDF files.

Comparing speed of converting Word or excel document to PDF vs Adobe , I will go with Primo as per my experience it is much faster to convert thru Primo rather than from Adobe. I am using Adobe 7.1 Professional.

In Conclusion having this tool is a must to have in your computer. I just hope this tool will help my readers. What about you do you have any other program being use for this type of application? Let us know by your comments.

Google Searches Made Easy

How much time do you spend searching in google? And then after your searches it result to nothing. So I suggest be smart on searching the net. Below syntax is very useful in finding information in the internet.

intitle:

This syntax restricts a search to titles of Web sites; it can be effectively combined with other syntaxes to customize a search.  An alternative syntax, allintitle: looks for all the words in the title of a Web site; allintitle: does not mix well with other syntaxes.

Example: intitle:”bob marley” “popular music”

inurl:

This syntax restricts a search to the URLs of Web sites.  It can be an effective way to find sites from within a domain, directory or path; it can also be effectively combined with other syntaxes to customize a search. See site: below.

Example: intitle:”civil liberties” terrorism inurl:cnn
Example: intitle:turkey intitle:carve inurl:help
Example: inurl:butterflygardening

site:

This syntax allows you to limit a search to a site or a top level domain.  It is similar to inurl: but will not search for a site within a subdirectory (i.e., anything beyond the /).  Some advantages to using inurl: over site: are:
You can use inurl: by itself without using any other search terms or
      syntaxes.
You can use inurl: to search subdirectories.

Example:  intitle:”hate crimes” site:gov
Example:  intitle:”hate crimes” OR “gay bashing” site:org
Example: intitle:”binge drinking” site:edu

intext:

This syntax searches for words in only the text of a Web site.  It ignores link text, URLs and titles which makes it a useful syntax for finding search words that are commonly used in URLs or links.  It can be effectively combined with other syntaxes to customize a search.

Example: intext:html site:edu
Example: intext:google.com inurl:help

inanchor:

This syntax searches for text in a Web site’s link anchors (i.e., the text you click on get to a Web site).  Since the anchor text for a link is usually descriptive of the page it links to, the inanchor: syntax can be a useful way to limit a search to relevant sites.  It can be effectively combined with other syntaxes to customize a search.

Example:  inanchor:”Google Help
Example:  inanchor:AIDS inanchor:grants site:gov

For a fun experiment, try typing your name as a phrase with the inanchor: syntax!

link:

This syntax returns a list of Web sites linking to a specific URL.  The link: syntax can not be combined with another syntax.

Example: link:www.linccweb.org

daterange:

This syntax allows you to limit a search to a specific date or range of dates that a site was indexed by Google (this is not the same as the date the site was created.) The only drawback to this syntax is that it works with the Julian Calendar, not the Gregorian Calendar (the one we use).  To use daterange: first go to the Julian Date Converter at the U.S. Naval Observatory (http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/JulianDate.html).

Example: intitle:”george bush” daterange:2452389-2452389 (this would search for April 24, 2002)

filetype:

This syntax searches for specific filename extensions.  Google searches for PowerPoint (.ppt), Excel (.xls), and Word (.doc) documents as well as Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), Adobe Postscript (.ps) and Rich Text Format (.rtf).

Example: intitle:”hate crimes” filetype:pdf
Example: intitle:google filetype:doc
Example: intitle:”date rape” site:edu filetype:ppt

related:

This syntax searches for Web sites related or similar to a specified URL.  This is a good way to retrieve categories or types of Web sites.

Example:  related:google.com
Example:  related:www.linccweb.org

info:

This syntax provides a page of links to more information about a specified URL including a link to the page’s cache, a list of Web sites that link to the specified URL, a list of Web sites related to the specified URL and Web sites that contain the specified URL.

Example:  info:cnn.com

I do believe that this techniques will ease your life in finding what you want in google and not just putting the “words+words” and then pressing Search Button.
